Phoenix Falconry are breeders of the following species of Birds of Prey:
All are reared on high quality diets and quantity is far less important than quality. The offspring of these pairs are occasionally available to discerning, experienced falconers and may be reared in the way of your choice. The 2005-breeding season. The season started well with eggs in early February from our Lugger falcons (Falco jugger) a species we are particularly keen to propagate as they are now one of the worlds most endangered species. Several of our young pairs laid eggs also for the fist time this year with a few new arrivals and first’s for the phoenix breeding project. Then disaster struck, when the G8 Summit came to Glen Eagles Hotel, just 5 miles away from us. The subsequent media air traffic and military air traffic of low flying helicopters panicked our birds so much, that several fertile eggs were crushed by parents and 2 young Peregrines were knocked off the nest sites and killed. This was a major blow to us, and really upsetting for all of the team who had worked so hard to propagate these birds. So all in all a pretty bad season but we still managed to produce
q “Black” Gyr hybrids q Ferruginous buzzards q Lugger falcons q Merlin’s q Harris hawks (still 1 female available)
Enjoy the pics and please feel free to contact us if you have a specific bird you would like to order in 2006.
